It is actually level, I just suck at taking photos when I’m running on 0 hours of sleep over 72 hours.

I think this is the first school work post I’ve ever made. Impressive. I’m going to have to add a new category for this.
I’m just going to quickly sketch dump and run - I have two major projects due tomorrow. This is a conglomerate of Figure Drawing III and sketches for 3D. Go all the way to the bottom. Some of it’s good, and some of it’s not so good, but seeing my not-so-successes as well as my successes helps me put things in perspective.

This was the drawing we did on the first day of Figure Drawing. That was a crazy still life! I’m so glad that’s over.

Sketch from 1-20: 2 minutes.

Sketch from 1-20: 2 minutes.

The first day of 3D Design, a bunch of dollar store items were spread across the table and we had two hours to come up with a sculpture. This is drawing I did of the atrocity.

And this is yet another. From this, we’re basing a much larger sculpture on, which is due tomorrow and which I will post here.

Sketch from 2-1: 30 Seconds.

For Wednesday, I have a still life and a sculpture due, plus I have to do a page of a comic tonight and a caricature this week. Also expect sketches for a children’s book to be posted in the near future.
Enjoy!

Something for my insomnia:

This is something I’ve been wanting to finish for a while and only recently dug up the time (by staying up all night for no good reason).
I’m now using this icon for DeviantArt. You should recognize her as my original character Oriella. I thought that face was particularly fitting with an avatar.
And now, with a drum roll, I present SKETCH DUMP: a series of sketches I’ve been meaning to complete and yet, between school, commissions, caricature gigs and general hectic life, I can’t seem to find time. Can’t imagine why.

Casmaron angrily badmouthing King Damien. When you’re an empress, your older sister is captain of the Hai Guard and she’s nearly as tall as the man you’re dismissing, you can do that.
Oriella’s in the back going “And this is what I have to deal with? Nah, I’d rather not.”

Ori and Cas in war garb. This is eventually going to be a shot of the entire main group… eventually.

I don’t know if you guys have ever played Tontie

Another Sailor Moon doodle that almost was.

This was going to be a good, solid remake of a 2006 piece of mine. It didn’t make it too far.

So my poor car is completely buried in snow. Being apartment renters, we don’t own a shovel, and with the severe freezes, I don’t think a shovel would work at this point. Today is my first day of school and there was no way I was going to be able to drive here. My wonderful husband volunteered to drive me and I’m sure glad I didn’t drive! We slid on ice twice on the way here. Unfortunately, he has school right after work today, which leaves me at school from 6 in the morning to 10 at night. A sixteen hour stay. Geesh. I’m sure glad I don’t work any this week. I don’t think I could.
So I brought some snacks and my laptop in attempt to keep myself occupied. I’ve watched the sun rise from my comfy couch seat. And I do have plans! I want to organize my laptop and respond to commissioners today. Tomorrow I’ll be working on organizing for taxes. aaron has something he wants me to draw, so I’ll probably do that. And I have this sketch sitting on my desktop of Oriella, Asher, Cas, Sera and Damien. Should be fun.
I also wanted to share a piece that’s very much an inside joke between myself and a friend of mine.

Well, that’s all for me today, but expect at least one more post this week!

I have to say thank goodness 2009 is over with! For those of you that don’t follow me on Facebook, 2009 even tried to bite me in the rear as I exited when my property tax came in December 31st - and it was due December 31st. I hadn’t even thought of it with everything I was taking care of. Still playing with that, but things are looking up!
I’m looking at my goals and getting well on my way. Ordered my first book on the reading list and it should be here about mid January. I also collected a list of organizations at Park I might be interested in and will be talking bout that, as well as cum laude, with Donna when school starts up next week. I sketched out five pages of Panda King in December, but I haven’t heard back on them yet. Once I do, I’ll slap some ink on them. From my last comic gig, I saved $150 towards Washington DC, so I’m definitely on my way.
Ones I haven’t looked at quite yet include driving. My car is literally trapped in ice and snow and I don’t even expect to be able to drive to my first week of school. Poor thing needs an oil change on its next move anyway. I haven’t started walking yet either, but I need access to Park’s facilities and to my car to start that, plus Aaron’s new job has a gym and offers him a personal trainer and course. He’s going to talk to him about jointly working out on Saturdays and Sundays, which should get me extra time.
I haven’t touched the snail mail list or the survey at all yet, but I still have a few weeks before January is over. I need to round up my taxes before I hit snail mail and the survey needs to be worked over with Donna first.
This past week I’ve been taking a break from commissions to get a head start on A World Once Was. One of my goals for this year is to give my hobbies a bit more attention, and poor AWOW has been collecting dust. Thanks to my husband Aaron and my best friend Charli Fainter, I’ve filled many of the opening plot holes of the beginning third of the story. I also roughed out finalized character designs and filled out a sheet over Oriella’s expressions.

I plan on editing my proposal for my honor’s project tonight and e-mailing commissioners about their pieces to get back into the swing. I don’t want to spread myself as thin this semester as I did last, but we’ll see how it goes.
Best wishes!
Marietta
